When did you start working at Osprey Wilds?

June 2019

What are your main responsibilities?

I teach K-12 environmental, cultural, & adventure classes. I also train and care for one of our education ambassadors, Dakota, a Red-tailed hawk.

What is your favorite part of your position?

I love being able to bring children on new experiences and watch as they make connections to nature!

What is your background in, and how did you get involved at Osprey Wilds?

I have a background in environmental science, and I learned about Osprey Wilds from a past employer.

What is your favorite animal?

My favorite animal is a salamander. I always get super excited to find one outside!

What is your favorite class to teach and why?

My favorite class to teach is Creek Creatures! We get to trudge through the creek with nets and catch invertebrates in the water. We then bring samples back into the classroom to identify and learn about water quality.

Where is your favorite place to visit on the property?

My favorite place to hike on the property is the forest at the southern edge, next to the prairie. This section of woods has beautiful moss-covered rocks, mounds of soil, called hummocks, and fun wood planks to walk on when the trail gets too wet! When hiking in these woods, every step must be mindful!

What is the coolest thing you’ve seen at work?

The coolest thing I’ve seen at work is a wolf track and scat! I’ve never lived in wolf territory and it was such a cool experience to find signs of them!
