DESCRIPTION:Dinner at the Lake with Lake Superior Area Fisheries Supervisor Cory Goldsworthy\n \nJoin us for a cozy evening with drinks\, appetizers and a delicious dinner\, followed by a presentation from Lake Superior Area Fisheries Supervisor Cory Goldsworthy.\n\nA bit about the organization and Cory:\nMN DNR’s Lake Superior Area Fisheries Program:\nThe primary duties of Minnesota DNR’s Lake Superior Area Fisheries Office is to fulfill the State’s signatory obligation to A Joint Strategic Plan for the Management of Great Lakes Fisheries\, an agreement facilitated through the Great Lakes Fishery Commission to provide a framework for cooperative and collaborative fisheries management across multiple jurisdictions on the Great Lakes.  This includes assessment and management of sport\, charter\, commercial\, and tribal subsistence fisheries using an ecosystem-based precautionary approach to fisheries management.\n\n\nGoldsworthy Bio:\nCory Goldsworthy was born\, raised\, and learned to chase all varieties of fish and wildlife in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula under the purview of an iron-mining father and a mother who was a nurse (folks that knew the “Goldsworthy Boys of North Lake” might even call her a Saint).  He graduated from Northland College in Ashland\, Wisconsin with a Bachelor’s degree in Fish and Wildlife Management and went on to complete his Master’s degree with the Tennessee Cooperative Fishery Research Unit at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville\, Tennessee. He began working for the Minnesota DNR in 2006 as a temporary biologist and worked in the West Metro\, Duluth\, and Lake Superior offices as a fulltime biologist before becoming the Lake Superior Area Fisheries Supervisor in 2014.
